A Letter from the Seller…
Dear Home Buyer,
Welcome to this beautiful historic Columbus home. There are so many wonderful features to the home that I am sure you will notice but first let me tell you a little about the history. The back cabin room was the original structure of the house built prior to 1828 and believed to be the oldest standing structure in the city. The Virginia-born surveyor Edward Lloyd Thomas came to the area with his son to lay out the plans for the city. Go ahead and wikipedia Edward Lloyd, it’s pretty neat to read about 808 Broadway in his history. Its amazing to think how Thomas and his son lived in this 15×15 foot cabin which boasts a huge hearth and fireplace that they would have used for their cooking and heating. The main house was built in the 1830s and to this day the house has its original heart of pine floors. This house is full of history and we have loved living here as I’m sure you would as well.
As for the neighborhood, I can’t think of a better place to live. Living here you will be welcomed into a community of the best neighbors. You will find the age range goes from young couples to families to empty nesters. Stepping out the front door can lead you to a festival, a Broadway show, a concert, an evening of dining at one of the local restaurants, a run along the river…the possibilities are endless. In the evening sitting on the front porch watching the sun go down will likely become one of your favorite activities.
Are you a gardener? This yard is truly a dream come true to the person with a green thumb. The house sits back from the street which allows for plenty of space for beautiful plants and flowers. The backyard also a great size has a large garden area ready for vegetables seeds! Or it could easily be covered in sod and make a nice green area to enjoy. The 17″ swim spa is a must for the hot Georgia summers and cool winter evenings. We have used this year round for relaxation and exercise against the swim current. The only thing missing is a deck extending from the back porch around the spa which was in our plans. Yet another outdoor living space is through the French doors off the kitchen. Here you will find a nice sized deck to dine on or relax.
So why are we moving after only being here a short time? Honestly we thought this would be our forever home but a change of employment is taking us to Atlanta. We only hope we can find a place there that we love as much as here.
Thank you for taking the time to look around and we hope you have found something you love here.
