Dear Buyer,
It’s hard not to imagine the family that will soon make our home theirs. So, we want to share our story and the beautiful memories these walls have seen. Nine years ago, we bought a house and transformed it into our home. It has since become the home that we returned to after saying “I do” and the home we have brought all 3 of our beautiful blonde haired blessings back to. But this home is so much more than that… This house tells our story, and it’s something we’d like to share a little of...
The back three bedrooms were once two guest rooms and an office. Bare and mismatched combinations of two separate lives soon were given a makeover in 2013. We found out we were expecting our first born, a boy. We knew we wanted to have a big family so we decided to do a “neutral theme” of grey, black, white and yellow, that way if god decided to bless us again, we would have the gender bases covered. And man has that decision served us well! Shortly after that our second child, a baby girl came along. Then to our surprise, we learned we were expecting a baby boy with only 16 months between them. We had to keep the neutrality of colors going, which is why we went with a “Tiffany” blue and nautical theme in the next room, you know because mermaids and pirates can totally co-exist. :-) We always needed to have a spare room for guests and the grandparents (who we love having ANYTIME to visit and help with the kiddos), but we also needed an office. The study nook was built and has been a very multi-functional addition to our home with lots of shelves for extra storage. Just pull up a chair and get to work!
The kitchen was remodeled a couple years ago- knowing it would be a place that we would spend a lot of time in with a growing family and all. My friends and family would agree I’m a great cook, my heart lies in Italian food. Which is another reason we are beyond thrilled for our new chapter of moving to Italy. No amount of red sauce could be spilled in this kitchen and not cleaned up with one swipe of a good cloth-a big plus for any chef, no matter how talented.
You may notice this house has lots of windows, we LOVE natural light. In spring and summer, you’ll glance out and notice that lots of different types of flowers will grow. On the north side of the house is a wall of Hydrangeas, and around the back and south side are Azaleas. Lots of color variations to make up the prettiest flower bouquets for around the house. Out the back door and to the right is the garden. It is barren right now, but I promise, in a month or two, the timing will be just right for fall Veggies and Herbs. As a mom of 3 and little time to herself, gardening reminds me to have patience, because there is no reasoning with blooms. But hard work pays off, and by summer’s end we have bushels of asparagus and baskets of Pears, Peaches and so many blueberries you will fill your freezer and the neighbors too!
We have enjoyed numerous backyard cookouts especially in the summertime. You have not seen a starry night until you have seen it from this yard. The wide yard allows for the best football throwing, soccer kicking and even makes for a great slip and slide area! Kids will love the jungle gym my husband and brother in law built with their own two hands. The 4x4 supports go more than 4 feet down and are laid with concrete so it’s very sturdy. So sturdy that the inner kid in you can come out and swing as high as you want without even the slightest shake. The best part is I can kick the kiddos outside to get a break and watch a TV show, fold laundry or finish dishes while still having an eye on them. Being surrounded by a fence and woods, the backyard gives ease to my mind that our furry baby and kids are limited to the backyard.
That leads me to our amazing neighbors, which were so helpful during my husband’s 6 combat deployments while he was with the Rangers… Our closest neighbor and friend is Janie Henderson, a retired Kindergarten teacher of 27 years. Janie has helped us with navigating the already amazing schools in Harris County. She even helped us find Cornerstone Christian Preschool, where our eldest attended for 2 years. She has been a blessing in our lives from the beginning. She attended our wedding, attended our baby showers and held each of our newborns home from the hospital. She is the sweetest and most giving neighbor you will ever have. She’s an incredible baker too, so if you ever have a sweet tooth or just need a cup of sugar or milk she is always stocked. Melvin and his wife live across the street and to the right, they are retired military and have the best cookouts on the block. Brett and his growing family live directly across the street, he is a senior executive at TYSys and keeps very busy with his kids running from sport to sport. They will all open their arms to you any time of the day, just introduce yourself and you’ll be sure to make a lifelong friend, just as we have found in Janie.
The Ellerslie Community is the quintessential country meets suburb life. Our mail lady of many years has become a close friend and her teenage daughter comes over and watches our kids at least once a month. The Ellerslie Fire Department chief is also the man who cleans and services our chimney. It is a place where you have the space and privacy but still have an amazing community surround you. Yes you are a little far from Columbus, but it definitely has its benefits. With the BP and now a new Dollar General just a mile away, anything urgent or small that you need like eggs, baby formula, a 6-pack, or cold medicine it is conveniently nearby.
This house was kind to us. It was the backdrop of our most important memories. But now it’s time for us to go. It gave us a space to start our family. I know it will be good to you, too. We wish you all the love and good fortune that we have had in our 9 years in this beautiful home.
Buona fortuna e arrivederci!
