"Hello,

We are so honored to open our home to you. For the past three years, our farm in Pittsview, AL has been our place of respite from our busy careers. Our family has grown here, our children have learned about hard work and valuing both their animals and land, and the local community has supported us and helped us grow stronger as a family. We are sad to leave our home, but understand our duties with the military and hope this home can bless another family just as it has ours.

Originally from the Midwest and with a few horses in tow, we purchased this home desiring both land for the animals as well as a peaceful, private abode that still granted convenient access to our jobs at Fort Benning as well as the blossoming Uptown Columbus area. Our home has provided this and more as it has grown to accommodate goats, chickens, and a donkey, two more children, and many memories.

Our absolute favorite thing about this home is the huge area for the children to explore, chase chickens, and pick strawberries. A perimeter fence that encompasses the property allows us to know our children are safely contained in this beautiful space. One of their favorite chores is going to the chicken coop and gathering eggs daily from the nesting boxes! Also, all of the kids have made the trek with Dad to the back woods of our home to check the deer camera and love going through the photos of all the wildlife. This year, our two-year-old even helped plant the garden, which will continue to produce beans, eggplant, squash, peppers, and peas throughout the summer and fall.

We have also been blessed to host our friends and colleagues at our home, where the back porch and yard gives us a great space for grilling, bonfires, and yard games. Our guests so much appreciate the escape from the city! Although it doesn’t get terribly cold in Alabama, the fireplace is the center of the interior of our home and provides a gathering place for our family to unwind at the end of a long day.

Our home has offered us an escape from the city while still being so conveniently located to Lake Eufaula, Uptown Columbus and the Riverwalk, Callaway Gardens, and the awesome events at Fort Benning. Closer to home, there is a corner store and gas station within a mile, Omaha Brewing Company’s tasting room a few miles away, and a couple wonderful hometown restaurants up the road in Fort Mitchell.
