"Greetings,
We are thankful that you have taken interest in this place we have called our home. People who drive by don't have any idea what lies behind the facade, but we know, and we would love to share a little more information about it with you, along with why we love it.
As newcomers to Columbus, we didn't have much knowledge of the areas, and because of this, our first impression of the home was strictly its uniqueness, character, and presence. From a design aspect, this Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home has a contemporary style, open floorplan, dramatic linear and vertical architectural elements, warm and open spaces, unique natural lighting features, and smooth and rustic finishes throughout the home. We were sold.
The living room was one of the first things that caught our attention. It is HUGE. At 1200sqft, it has faithfully served as a spacious and fun venue for our children's birthday parties, coworker events, and family gatherings. It is, without a doubt, an entertainer's dream home. You know you have a big living room when your children have tons of space to play an intense game of tag, or hide and seek in one of the eight storage closets that surround the space. (Watching our children play down there has given us great joy). We have, at one time, had around 30 children joyfully playing in the living room while all the parents sat on the sofa or watched from the railings above. During Christmas, the living room transforms into a magical place for the whole family. The Christmas tree sits beautifully next to the stone fireplace, twinkling through the long, custom-made window, and the decorating possibilities are endless.
The sliding door that leads to the deck welcomes you to a unique and relaxing experience, immediately connecting with nature through the foliage and disconnecting from the city, without ever having to leave it. The cold winter nights were always fun for us to sit out on the oversized deck with family and friends and have a bonfire. (Yes, bonfires are possible when you have one of the largest lots in Mohina Woods, almost an acre). Something that contributes to the calming ambiance of the backyard is the whistling of the diverse bird species that visit throughout the seasons, and the glistening sun rays that peer through the pine and oak trees. Having trees has not only provided shade in the summer months, but also given us the luxury of making obstacle courses for our kids and hanging multiple swings for them to play.
From a mother's perspective, living here has given me (Alexandra) peace of mind because no matter where I am in the house, I can keep an eye on all the children. This includes being in the kitchen, where I spend most of my time cooking (this place has a wonderful range) and having visual access to the kids in the living room down below, sunroom (which has transformed into our playroom) and backyard through the windows in the dining area.
On weekends, the two of us have enjoyed our little coffee nook which sits by the dining room windows, where the beautiful natural light comes through between 8-10AM. Having such a large dining space has afforded us the ability to create this space where we can enjoy quality time together (and still keep an eye on our kids).
Enough about the great things this house has to offer, it's also located in what we feel is the best place in the city. Its central location ensures a short trip to Fort Moore, exit 10, and downtown for the great food and Riverwalk. If you have elementary aged children, this home is zoned for Clubview elementary, which has an outstanding IB program. We have been very grateful that our boys have had an opportunity to attend this school.
Because of our deep love for this place we have called home, we took extra time, effort, care, and personal funds to continue its transformation through the years and into a different era. One thing we want to highlight is the beautiful master bathroom, which took a couple months to plan and build. We have attached a more detailed list of the updates we have done.
Once again, the Army has decided our next steps, and while we wish we could stay here and continue our journey in this home, we know that the right family will come along who will see what we saw, love what we loved, and long to expand and continue writing the story of 3302 College Drive. If that family is you, then welcome home.
Blessings,
Alex and Alex Cruz, and all the baby Cruz kids (A2+4)"
