Where to Find Healthy Food in Columbus, GAPosted: March 25, 2015
I know it can be pretty tough these days to lead a healthy lifestyle when it seems like everything around you only offers crispy-fried everything down here in the South. While it is nice to indulge in a huge, juicy burger every once in a while, it feels even better to kick those cravings in the butt and enjoy a few healthy meals instead. It may seem like there aren’t very many options for healthy food in Columbus, GA, but there are a few places I know of where you can indulge in some pretty tasty, guilt-free eats.
Ride On Smoothie and Juice Bar
Open Mon, Wed-Sat: 9 AM – 7 PM & Tue: 9 AM – 10 PM
Columbus, GA 31901
Ride on Smoothie and Juice Bar is new to the neighborhood but they certainly know how to make an appearance. The best part about this juice bar is that their juices are cold pressed, which means you’ll be getting 100% of the nutrients from the fruits and vegetables used. One of their top motives is keeping it green so for just one dollar extra they will put your juice into a mason jar and every time you bring that jar back to purchase another juice you’ll get twenty-five cents back! Drop by today and get daily dose of all the vegetables you need with a “Kale Yeah!” juice or grab a healthy “Chocolate Frosty” smoothie for that sweet tooth.
Open Mon-Sun: 11 AM – 9 PM
5413 Whittlesey Blvd
Columbus, GA 31909
Zoës Kitchen is a chain restaurant that serves flavorful Mediterranean meals. Their main focus is to create healthful meals that make you feel good, inside and out. With menu options like a quinoa salad, mediterranean tuna pitas, and even a power protein plate, you should be able to find something on the menu that sounds appetizing to you. Speaking of appetizers, they even have a made-from-scratch hummus trio served with pita bread and cucumbers! Now that sounds amazing.
Country Life Vegetarian Restaurant & Natural Food Store
Open Mon-Thu: 9 AM – 6 PM & Sun: 10 AM – 5 PM
1217 Eberhart Ave
Columbus, GA 31906
Another healthy spot in town is the Country Life Vegetarian Restaurant & Natural Food store in Midtown. That’s a mouthful, I know, but that’s because as you can tell, it doubles as a restaurant AND a grocery store. Awesome, right? You can go out for lunch with your friends and then pick up some ingredients for a nutritious dinner for the family afterwards. Their entire menu is completely plant based with the occasional use of honey, so you know you’re getting in a pretty healthy and clean meal when you stop by. They also hold events like cooking classes and Bible studies. Country Life Vegetarian is in close proximity to those of you who work at Aflac and the Columbus Museum.
The Fresh Market
Open Mon-Sun: 8 AM – 9 PM
1591 Bradley Park Drive
Columbus, GA 31904
The Fresh Market is a quaint grocery store that offers a wide variety of products and ingredients for creating delicious hearty meals. They keep only the freshest foods in store while offering you a shopping experience unlike any other. The Fresh Market serves high quality meats, fresh seafood, and local, organic produce out of a small customer-focused European style marketplace. The atmosphere created by the warm lighting, classical music and rustic design makes you feel comfortable and welcome. Even if you don’t have much shopping to do, it’s a fun place to browse around and get your hands on some healthy foods that you may not be able to find anywhere else.
If these places sound as good to you as they do to me, you should give them a try. If you like them enough, how about moving in? No not into the stores, into the neighborhood! Get in touch with me today to learn about local listings in the area and get your family on the move!
